La sociedad de la nieve y Robot Dreams, nominadas a los Óscar

La sociedad de la nieve, de Juan Antonio Bayona, y Robot Dreams, de Pablo Berger, han sido nominadas en la 96ª edición de los Óscar, en las categorías de mejor película internacional y mejor cinta de animación, respectivamente.

El filme de Bayona, que cuenta la historia de la conocida como tragedia de los Andes, el accidente del 13 de octubre de 1972 del avión que trasladaba a un equipo de rugby desde Montevideo a Chile, opta además al Óscar al mejor maquillaje y peluquería para Ana López-Puigcerver, David Martí y Montse Ribé.

Las nominaciones han sido anunciadas en Los Ángeles por los actores Zazie Beetz y Jack Quaid. Los premios serán entregados el próximo 10 de marzo.

Esta es la primera nominación para Bayona (Barcelona, 1975), quien tendrá que competir contra la italiana Yo capitán, la británica La zona de interés, la japonesa Perfect days y la alemana Sala de profesores.

La última vez que España estuvo nominada en la categoría de mejor película internacional fue en 2020 con Dolor y gloria, de Pedro Almodóvar, que no se llevó el premio, que recayó en la coreana Parásitos.

Hay que remontarse a 2005 para encontrar la última película que sí se llevó la estatuilla para España, que fue Mar adentro, de Alejandro Amenábar. Era el cuarto Óscar a mejor cinta extranjera para el cine español tras Volver a empezar, que lo ganó en 1983, Belle Epoque, en 1994, y Todo sobre mi madre, en el 2000.

También es la primera nominación para Berger (Bilbao, 1963), por su delicada adaptación de la novela gráfica homónima de la estadounidense Sara Varon sobre la historia de un perro que, para no sentirse solo, decide comprarse un robot al que convierte en su mejor amigo.

En lo que respecta a la nominación de maquillaje y peluquería, es la segunda para Martí y Ribé y la primera para López-Puigcerver.

DT, la compañía creada por David Martí y Montse Ribé, ha trabajado en obras como El laberinto del fauno, El orfanato, Madres paralelas o Un monstruo viene a verme, y en 2007 se llevaron el Óscar por su trabajo en el filme de Guillermo del Toro.

Oppenheimer lidera las nominaciones

La cinta 'Oppenheimer', del cineasta británico Christopher Nolan, cumplió los pronósticos este martes y liderará la carrera hacia la 96 edición de los Óscar con 13 nominaciones, seguida de 'Poor Things', del griego Yorgos Lanthimos, con 11 candidaturas. 'Killers of the Flower Moon', el regreso de Martin Scorsese a Hollywood, se alzó con 10 menciones.

Por su parte, el fenómeno comercial 'Barbie', de Greta Gerwig, tuvo que conformarse con ocho nominaciones tras una temporada de premios en la que ha ido flaqueando en los reconocimientos de los apartados más importantes.

Las cuatro cintas competirán en la categoría reina de los Óscar, la de mejor película, contra 'American Fiction', 'Anatomy of a Fall', 'The Holdovers', 'Maestro', 'Past Lives' y 'The Zone of Interest'.

La gala de este año, que tendrá lugar el próximo 10 de marzo en el teatro Dolby de Los Ángeles, también decidirá quién es el mejor director del curso, un apartado del que sorpresivamente se cayeron Greta Gerwig ('Barbie') y Alexander Payne ('The Holdovers').

Los cineastas en liza este año son: Nolan, que aspira a conseguir su primer Óscar como director; Scorsese, que desea conseguir su segunda estatuilla en esta categoría tras 'The Departed' en 2007; así como Yorgos Lanthimos ('Poor Things'); el británico Jonathan Glazer y la francesa Justine Triet ('Anatomy of a Fall') con ansias de estrenarse.

Las categorías interpretativas dejaron a Bradley Cooper ('Maestro'), Cillian Murphy ('Oppenheimer'), Colman Domingo ('Rustin'), Paul Giamatti ('The Holdovers') y Jeffrey Wright ('American Fiction') como contendientes a la estatuilla dorada a mejor actor.

Un apartado que en su versión femenina contempla a Lily Gladstone ('Killers of the Flower Moon'), Annette Bening ('Nyad'), Sandra Hüller ('Anatomy of a Fall'), Carey Mulligan ('Maestro') y Emma Stone ('Poor Things').
